Necker island is currently owned by Sir Richard Branson.  Necker island has been turned into a luxury getaway that can host uptown 28 guests.  Sir Richard Branson purchased the island for $270,000 he went on to spend a further $10 million developing the island.  Now if you would like to stay there the prices are around $60,000 a night.

Lanai Island is the sixth largest island in the Hawaiian Islands.  The island only has one town called Lanai City.  In 2012 Larry Ellison ( of Oracle ) brought the 98% share of the Island that was owned by the Castle & Cooke company.  The remaning 2% remains in the hands of the state.  That 98% share cost Mr Ellison $300 million, he is since spend a further $450 million on projects on the island.  The island hosts two five star hotels, The Four Seasons Resort Lanai, and the Four Seasons Lanai at Koele
